Ethel Georgia (Griffin) Kinghorne
1935-2019
Mrs. Ethel Georgia (Griffin) Kinghorne, of North Head, Grand
Manan, NB, passed away on Saturday evening, November, 9 2019 at the
Grand Manan Nursing Home with her loving family by her side.
Born on Seal Cove, Grand Manan, NB, she was the daughter of the late

In addition to raising a large family, Ethel worked
tirelessly throughout her life. She worked at the Surfside
motel and labored countless hours working in the family business and
other areas of the fishing industry including shucking

at Beal’s Eddy. Always Community minded she earned
an award for her many years of contribution to the Terry Fox
run. She volunteered with Meals on Wheels, Church Socials
and Heart & Stroke to name a few. Perhaps
Ethel’s greatest volunteer work was her passion for picking
berries that she would deliver to the Hospital and Nursing
home. Affectionately known to her great grandchildren as
Grammy Apple she made countless jars of jelly for her family and
friends. Ethel looked forward to the annual family adventure
on Long Island looking for gulls eggs. She enjoyed Chinese
checkers, card games and baking her famous Wood Island cookies for
family and her many friends.
Ethel is survived by two daughters Sharon (Claude) Ingalls of
North Head, Toby Lambert of Castalia; three sons Sherman (Heather)
Kinghorne, of Grand Harbour, Eugene (Juliet) Kinghorne of North Head,
Gordon Kinghorne (Mike Duern) of St. Stephen, NB; one sister Delia
Lemieux of Fredericton, one hafl- sister Doreen Akerly of Cambridge
Narrows; 18 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren, many nieces,
nephews and friends.
