Dorothy Nettie Streif October 22nd 2019

Dorothy Nettie Streif, aged 94, passed away peacefully on October 22, 2019. Dorothy was born to Howard Lee Bingham (1880-1974) and Nettie Juanita (Perrine) Bingham (1889-1985), younger sister to Eva May White/Stalker (1908-2003), Howard Clyde Bingham (1911 – 2017) and Margaret Ethel Ahrens (1920 – 2001)
Dorothy witnessed many changes in the world and lived a full and active life. She married her beloved husband Frank Streif (1909-1995) in 1965. Together they spent many years working and traveling, and while living in Vancouver and Richmond they enjoyed welcoming and entertaining their many friends at home. Dorothy was a devoted partner who lovingly and unselfishly cared for Frank during their final years together. Never afraid to take on new challenges, Dorothy moved to Rossland in 2003 to be near her family and because she was friendly and outgoing she made many new friends.
Dorothy took great pleasure in listening to music and loved to sing and knew the words to so many songs. Music would always brighten her day. Dorothy will be remembered for her generous nature. She was a gracious host who loved cooking and sharing her delicious homemade meals and baked goods with others. She had a talent for preparing food that always contained that special ingredient of love that could not be matched even if she shared her recipes.
Dorothy will be loved and remembered by her stepdaughter, Marlene and her son-in-law, Roly with whom she had a special bond, her nieces, Barbara Bayliss and Barbara White, her nephew, Kenneth White (Sharon), her great-niece Wendy White (Richard Skip) and her great-great-nephew, Nathan Skip. Dorothy was predeceased by her nephews Howard (Edith), Willard (Mildred) and Glenn White.
The family wishes to thank all the staff and caregivers at the Columbia View Lodge for their kind, gentle care and compassion and Dr. Kerby for her help and thoughtfulness. We are grateful to Laurie Boyce for the many years of loving support and special care and to her wonderful team at Serendipity Support Services especially Lynnette Perrault, Jan Bolen and Don Leslie. We would also like to thank the many volunteers, dancers and musicians who brought joy to Dorothy’s life and the team at Chateau Manor where Dorothy spent many pleasant years and finally Alternatives Funeral and Cremation Services™ who were very helpful at the time of Dorothy’s passing.
You are invited to leave a personal message of condolence.
