Obituary
It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of David Gerard Cooper which occurred at St. Joseph’s Hospital on Monday, November 25th, 2019. Born 1918, in Saint John, he was the son of the late Walter and Maud (Hurley) Cooper. David worked for the City of Saint John Water Department. He also worked as a church custodian in the USA and spent several years working as the Gramercy apartment building manager in Manhattan.
David is survived by the love of his life for 20+ years Avis (Robichaud) Dempster; son Dana Cooper (Laura) of New York; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends. Dana was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Besides his parents, David was predeceased by his wife Florence and siblings Dorothy, Jean, Bill, Ernie, Walter, Harold, Ronnie, Tommy, Arthur and Francis.
Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) with visitation being held on Saturday, November 30th from 6 to 8 p.m. and Sunday, December 1st from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. A Memorial Service will take place from the Fundy Funeral Home chapel on Monday, December 2nd at 11 a.m. followed by an interment at Fernhill Cemetery. Donations in memory of David may be made to Outflow Men’s Shelter or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
