Barbara Magnusson Friday November 8th 2019

After a brief illness, Barbara, aged 88, passed peacefully at the Gimli Johnson Memorial Hospital on Friday, Nov. 8, 2019. She was the daughter of Stefan and Gudrin Eyjolfson. Predeceased by her husband Robert, daughter Roberta, and her son Grant; her siblings, Irene Hodgson, Jona Eyjolfson, Helen Sigurdson, and Wally Eyolfson. Survived by her sister Val Taylor; her sons Glenn (Janice), Gary (Gayle), Dale (Sandra), and Randy (Delori); her grandchildren Luke, Corley, Allison, Trevor, Dustin, Carmen, Kaiden, and Kylan; and her great grandchildren, Sigrid, Soren, Sigurjon, Emily, James, Anders, and Stefan.
She was born Aug 16, 1931 in Riverton MB, where she was raised on the family farm, Tunga, on the banks of the Icelandic River. She married Robert in June of 1951, and moved to Gimli, MB where they raised their family. She was a devoted wife, mother, Amma, and Long Amma. She was a wonderful homemaker, who loved to cook and bake. Her cookie jar was always full. Family dinners were a favourite, and she always looked forward to visits from her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She took great pride in her yard and garden. She loved to curl, and was a member of the Women’s Auxillary. She lived at Gimli Betel Home for the last 10 years of her life, and we thank the Betel staff for their compassionate care. Her sense of humour and infectious smile are fondly remembered; she will be dearly missed by many.
In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to Cancer Care or Heart & Stroke. As per her wishes, no formal service will be held.
Thank you to the hospital staff who cared for her in her last hours.
