Mrs. Veronica Fedor, age 96 years passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 29, 2019 in the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre.
Veronica was born on February 8, 1923 in Kotki, Poland. In 1941 she was captured and transported to Germany as a forced laborer. She escaped in January 1942, unfortunately she was recaptured in May 1942 and was sent back to Germany as a prisoner of war. Veronica met her husband, Jozef at a New Year’s Eve dance in 1945 where she played the harmonica. Together, they chose to immigrate to Canada.
Veronica was a member of St. Mary Our Lady Queen of Poland Chuch, a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Brand #219 and, she was a Nurses Aid for many years at Thunder Bay hospitals. She was proud to be a guest speaker at Lakehead University twice regarding her survival as a Prisoner of War.
Veronica loved to travel, exercise, garden, hobby farm and loved socializing with many friends and family. Her kindness, generosity and honest approach to life will be remembered always and dearly missed.
Veronica will be loving missed by her daughters Jacqueline (Kenneth) Littleford, Deborah (Arturo Scarcello), by her sister Victoria Wiejak, by her granddaughters Elizabeth Whittles, Vanessa Aquilina, Krista Aquilina and Bianca Scarello, by her great grandchildren Sophia Whittles, Cooper Takacs, Chase Takacs, Riley Woilford and Elliot Woilford.
She was predeceased by her husband Jozef, her companion Eddy Seifert, by her daughter Helen Fowler, her brother Joseph and by her sister Janina.

A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, November 1, 2019 in the chapel of Sargent & Son Funeral Home, 21 N. Court Street with Rev. Victor DeGagne officiating.
