1933-2019
Shirley DeMerchant of Perth-Andover, NB, passed away peacefully at the
York Care Center in Fredericton, NB, on October 2, 2019.
Shirley was born in Perth-Andover, NB, on April 20, 1933. She was the
daughter of the late Herbert and Margaret (Wark) Hammond. Shirley
leaves behind her sons, William “Bill” DeMerchant (Sandra)
of Fredericton, NB, Robert DeMerchant of Perth-Andover, NB; her
grandchildren, Dustin, Emily, Liam, Lucas, and Olivia DeMerchant; a
great grandson, Sawyer; her brothers, John Hammond (Yvette) of
Fredericton, NB, Robert Hammond of Perth-Andover, NB, Ralph Hammond
(Judy) of Kingston, ON; along with several nieces and nephews.
Shirley was predeceased by her parents; her husband of 65 years,
Stephen DeMerchant; her sister, Annie Watson; her brothers, Earl,
Raymond, and George Hammond.
Shirley loved her family and was a very hard worker. She worked along
side of Stephen many hard hours on a potato farm. She had a Bed and
Breakfast for several years, loved meeting new people, and showed much
hospitality. She was a cook/baker in many of the local
establishments. She had an amazing smile that she never lost.
Her last 3 1/2 years were spent at York Care Centre in Fredericton
where she had exceptional love and care given to her.
Resting at Brunswick Funeral Home with visitation on Friday 11:30 am –
1 pm. Funeral service will be held on Friday, October 4, 2019 at 1 pm
from the funeral home. Rev. Reg Thomas officiating. Interment will
follow in Larlee Creek Cemetery.
For those who wish, memorial donations to the York Care Center would
be appreciated by the family.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Brunswick Funeral Home,
Perth-Andover, NB.
