Ronald Charles Jackson, age 79 of Stratford, and formerly of Downie Township, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 17, 2019 surrounded by his loving family at Stratford General Hospital. Born in Stratford, son of the late Charles and Margaret (Kompf) Jackson. Ron is survived by his true love and best friend of 56 years; Diane (Preece) Jackson. Loving father of Susan (Eric) Diehl and Randy (Michelle) Jackson. Proud grandfather of Robert and Elizabeth Diehl, Landon and Cohen Jackson. Ron is survived by brother Ken (Marilyn) Jackson and his sisters-in-law Judith Preece and Patricia Miller and his many nieces and nephews and cousins. Ron and Diane farmed for many years in Downie Township, and Ron enjoyed trucking cattle for farmers in the area before retiring to Stratford. Ron was also an avid member of the Mitchell Pioneer Hobby Association, and he loved to collect toy tractors. Besides his parents, Ron was predeceased by his in-laws Cyril and Phyllis Preece and sister Bernice Blair. Family and friends may call at the W. G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron Street, Stratford on Wednesday, October 23, 2019 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8p.m. The funeral service will take place at the funeral home on Thursday, October 24, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. Reception to take place following the funeral service. Private family interment will take place at a later date in Sebringville Cemetery.
