It is with great sadness we announce that on the evening of October 17, 2019 Magdalena Volk (also known as Madeline) went to be with the Lord and join her beloved husband John in heaven.
Magdalena was born into a large and loving family over 95 years ago in Allan, SK to Markus and Alosia. She fondly referred to herself as the baby of the family.
Magdalena knew John Volk, a handsome young man, for many years before they became a couple. They were married at St. Aloysius Church in Allan, SK in 1947 and moved to Trail, BC to begin their life together.
Magdalena was well-known by family and friends as an excellent cook and baker. She was also a dedicated gardener and enjoyed canning. Everyone who visited was treated to the scrumptious baked goods that were always present on her kitchen counter, fondly nicknamed “cookie corner”.
Magdalena was an affectionate, devoted, thoughtful, and gentle but strong wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was also a caring and compassionate sister, aunt, and cousin to many relatives.
Magdalena is predeceased by her wonderful husband, John, as well as her mother, father, brothers and sisters. She is survived by her cherished son Lauren (Kathi); adored granddaughters Jasmine (Rob), Amber, and Jillian (Andy); and special great-grandchildren Lexi, PJ, and Nash, in addition to many other extended family members. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
A private family graveside service was held. Bill Clark of Alternatives Funeral and Cremation Services™ has been entrusted with arrangements.
As an expression of sympathy, donations in Magdalena’s name may be made to the BC Cancer Foundation at 399 Royal Avenue, Kelowna, BC, V1Y 5L3 or online at www.bccancerfoundation.com
You are invited to leave a personal message of condolence.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Magdalena Madeline Volk October 17th 2019..
