Obituary of JOYCE ESTELLE MAUGHAN
JOYCE ESTELLE MAUGHAN
(NEE PATTERSON)
Peacefully on October 23, 2019 at Concordia Hospital, beloved wife of John (Jack) Maughan passed away.
Joyce was predeceased by her father William Patterson, mother Estelle Lundy and step father Ernie Lundy.
She is survived by brother Duncan Patterson, children Debra and Gord, Bill and Doreen, Tim, Sheri and Rob, grandchildren Jackie Blue, Chloe and Ava and great grandson Hayden.
Joyce grew up in St. James and attended St. James Collegiate. Following school Joyce spent her entire career as an administrative assistant for various financial institutions and corporations. However, she really found her stride when she started working in Human Resources at New Flyer Industries in Transcona where she made lifelong friends during her ten years of employment, retiring in 1997.
Affectionately known as “Red”, she loved to spend her time in her garden and was an avid reader and dog lover. During her retirement she enjoyed trips to Florida, the West Coast and many trips to Ontario to visit “her girls”. “Red” bowled for many years at Roxy Bowling Lanes every Monday where she was the Treasurer and Secretary.
Joyce met her beloved husband Jack on a blind date and married on July 2, 1966 recently celebrating their 53rd Anniversary. Joyce and Jack built their home in 1972 on Larche Ave. West, where they raised their family, remaining until this day. Joyce cherished her neighborhood friends and a lifetime of memories made there.
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, October 27 at 1:30 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1800 Day Street in Transcona.
In lieu of flowers, a donation made to CancerCare Manitoba in Joyce’s memory would be appreciated.
