Peacefully, surrounded by the love of his family, James Robert Knights, passed away after a brave battle with cancer, at Stratford General Hospital, on Wednesday, July 31, 2019. He was 73 years old. Jim was a quiet, gentle soul. We remember the brilliant smile that shone from his face and his ways of love and commitment that continually nurtured the well -being of his family.
Jim will be lovingly remembered by his wife, and best friend of 53 years, Joanne (née Bennewies) Knights of Seaforth, and their sons, Jeffery and Leanne Knights of Tara, Jonathan and Colleen Knights of Markdale and Jason and Leanne Knights of Toronto. Memories of a special grandpa remain with grandchildren Charity, Alexander, Cassidy, Brendan and Caitlyn. Left to reminisce fond memories are siblings-in-law Ralph Bennewies, Shirley and Claude Stewart, Bill Wilds, Wayne Bennewies, Barry and Gale Bennewies, Roger and Yvonne Bennewies, Dan and Carol Bennewies, Bonnie and Doug Holcomb, and many nieces and nephews.
Jim is predeceased by his parents Reginald and Charity (née Snell) Knights, and siblings-in-law Keith and Barbara Bennewies, Mavis Wilds, Loretta Bennewies, Janet Bennewies, Eugene Dale and Leonard Morrison.
Honouring Jim’s request cremation has taken place. Family and friends are invited to a memorial visitation at McGlynn Family Funeral Home (519-527-1390), 87 Goderich Street West, Seaforth on Tuesday, August 6, 2019 from 12 – 1:45 p.m. followed by a service to honour Jim’s life commencing at 2 p.m. Interment will take place in Maitlandbank Cemetery and a reception will follow at Seaforth Legion, Branch 156, 123 Main Street South, Seaforth.
