Jean Koshka 2019

Obituary for
Jean Koshka
Early Monday morning, October 21, 2019, Jean Koshka passed away peacefully in her sleep. Jean died as she lived with an indomitable spirit and a take control attitude. She was determined to defeat the cancer that was ravaging her body. Her spirit was willing but her body just could not endure the fight any longer.
When she was not travelling, Jean lived for family gatherings and nothing was more important to her than bringing family and friends together for her elaborate meals. She loved to entertain and everything was created and served according to true Ukrainian tradition.
When she wasn’t hosting a major dinner, Jean spent most of her working life as the head secretary at Austin O’Brien Catholic High School in Edmonton where she directed and organized the lives of many, many principals and staff over the years.
Jean was predeceased by her dear husband, Larry, in 2005. She was also predeceased by her parents, Nick and Eva Caruk; as well as her brother, Tony Caruk (Joanne); and her sisters, Ollie Koshka (Joe), Adeline Krysko (Len) and Sonia Hrabec (Bill).
Left to cherish her memory are Jean’s daughter, Cheryl MacDonald (Allan) and their daughter Katie (Brian Hess) and Jean’s son, Brad (Michelle) and their children Megan, Abby, Brooke and Brandon. Jean is also survived by her brother, Roman Caruk (Maria); as well as many nieces and nephews.
Jean was an active member of St. Basil’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, 7007-109 Street NW, Edmonton, where her funeral will take place at 10:00 am on Saturday, October 26 with interment beside Larry in St. Mary’s Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery at Chipman. Should you wish, the family requests that, in lieu of flowers, a contribution be made to cancer research.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Jean
