Obituary of Irene May Eby
Passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 19, 2019 at Derbecker’s Heritage House, St. Jacobs, in her 98th year. Born in Guernsey, Saskatchewan, on May 31, 1922. She moved with her family to the Waterloo Region in 1957.
Beloved wife of the late Ivan Eby (2005). Dear mother of Duane (Gloria) Eby and Evelyn Sauder (David Groleau). Cherished grandmother of Wendy (Steve) Kaufman, Sarah Eby, Judy Sauder, Ben (Hina) Eby, and Sarah (Jason) Polden, and great-grandmother of Cassandra Kaufman, Ava and Lia Eby, and Sloane and Blake Polden. She will be missed by sisters-in-law Vera Weber and Agnes Eby.
Predeceased by her parents Noah and Louise (Biehn) Weber, sister Myrtle (Claude) Schlabach, brothers Howard (Barbara) Weber, Leonard Weber, Floyd (Violet) Weber, Gordon (Lillian) Weber, Lyle (Ruby) Weber, and Willis Weber, and son-in-law Gerald Sauder.
The family would like to thank the staff at Heritage House for their many acts of kindness over the three years Irene lived there.
A memorial service will take place on Saturday, November 16, 2019 at 2:30 p.m., with visiting one hour prior, at St. Jacobs Mennonite Church. Interment will be held at 1 p.m. at St. Jacobs Cemetery. A reception will follow the memorial service.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to St. Jacobs Mennonite Church or Mennonite Central Committee would be appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to the Dreisinger Funeral Home, Elmira.
