Gennaro Grandinetti
It is with great sadness and much love that we announce the peaceful passing of Gennaro Grandinetti, beloved husband, father, brother, uncle and nonno (babu), on Sunday October 20, 2019, in Edmonton, Alberta, at the age of 80. Gennaro was born February 7, 1939, in Aiello, Calabria, Italy.
Gennaro will be lovingly remembered by his children; Marina (Don) Redmile, Sandra (Gerry) Haracsi, Lori (Joe) Santoro and Steven (Ashley) Grandinetti; grandchildren; Amanda and Alyssa Redmile, Daniel and Sienna Santoro, Arianna Haracsi, Lorenzo, Adriano and Emilio Grandinetti; step-grandchildren, Tim and Curtis Haracsi; brothers, Joe (Angela) and Geniale; sisters-in-laws, Emma and Rosa; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Gennaro was predeceased by his wife, Rose; parents, Raffaele and Maria; brothers, Antonio (Francesca), Nicola (Josephine), Giovanni (Adelina), Carmine, Francesco and Gaetano; and sisters, Giovanna (Arturo) and Teresa.
He will be sorely missed by family, friends and by all who had the pleasure of knowing him as the kind and generous person that he was. His best times were spent with his family and in his garden.
Prayer Service Friday, October 25 at 8:00 p.m. at Santa Maria Goretti Roman Catholic Church, 9110 – 110 Avenue, Edmonton.
Funeral Mass Saturday, October 26 at 9:30 a.m. at Santa Maria Goretti Roman Catholic Church. Reverend George Puramadathil, CFIC officiating with entombment in Holy Cross Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian National Institute for the Blind Foundation, 11150 Jasper Avenue, Edmonton, Alberta, T5K 0C7.
