Obituary of Elizabeth Muriel Janzen
Elizabeth Janzen
It is with love and grace that we announce that Elizabeth passed away in her 76th year on October 4, 2019, after a short journey with cancer.
Beloved wife of previously deceased Ernie Janzen, much loved mother of Dana (Malcolm) and Chris (Sarah), sister to Keith (Pat) Arthur, Randy (Barb) Arthur and Catherine Arthur, and enthusiastic grandma to Brock.
Elizabeth grew up in Toronto and graduated from Women’s College Hospital in 1965. Her life was dedicated to caring for others and promoting health education through her work as a nurse and volunteer, including time at Pleasant Manor and the Victorian Order of Nurses (VON) in St. Catharines.
Elizabeth was a dedicated member of Grace Mennonite Church for more than 50 years, volunteer for the Canadian Cancer Society for more than 45 years, including serving as President of the Niagara Region and an active member of St. Catharines Horticultural Society. A lover of travel, gardening, ice skating and helping the kindergarten class at Port Weller School, Elizabeth found great joy in spending time with her family and friends over tea and in the gardens.
Visitation will be held at Grace Mennonite Church 677 Niagara St, St. Catharines on Friday October 11 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday October 12 at 11am at Grace Mennonite Church. Cremation has taken place.
Donations can be made to the Mennonite Central Committee (mcccanada.ca) or the Walker Family Cancer Centre* (ofnhs.akaraisin.com/Donation/Event/DonationType.aspx?seid=9315&mid=48).
