Obituary of ELAINE MARGARET KON
ELAINE MARGARET (LOFVENDAHL) KON
May 11, 1962 – October 2, 2019
With heavy hearts and extreme sadness we announce Elaine’s sudden and unexpected passing at Health Sciences Centre on October 2, 2019.
Left to mourn her passing is partner Perry Kon, mother Margeret Lofvendahl, brothers Greg (Calla) & Keith Lofvendahl, in-laws Joe & Helen Kon, sister- in-law Cindy Swaine (Rick Phillips), brother- in-law Chris (Wendy) Kon, aunts, uncles and many cousins, as well as fur baby Peanut Butter.
Elaine was predeceased by grandparents John Aleck & Aida Lofvendahl, Valere & Maria Louisa Decru, father Leslie Bryan Lofvendahl and her fur babies Pooky and Bear.
Elaine had a varied career working at the Pan Am Pool, Parks & Rec and the Fire Dept. for the City of Winnipeg, Wilderness Edge, North East Health Association and most recently in the Bakery Dept. of Campbell’s Foods in Lac du Bonnet.
Elaine always had a project on the go: knitting, cross stitch, was learning to crotchet and so much more. She gave her handiwork away as gifts to friends and family, people in need, or animals in need. She was passionate about animals and their welfare.
As per Elaine’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no funeral or memorial service. A private internment for immediate family will take place at a later date.
Elaine asked that the following be read at the internment of her ashes:
“My purpose and hope for writing this letter is it will give you comfort and closure after I’m gone.
If you need to mourn me, please do not mourn too long. Remember I was not supposed to live past my first surgery at age 3 days old. I lived an amazing 57 years on borrowed time.
I believe that everyone has a purpose for walking this earth and my purpose was to make life a little easier for someone else. I tried to do this every day by doing little extras for everyone who crossed my path in life. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to make a small difference in your life.
My purpose on earth has now been completed and it’s time for me to have an easier life. Do not worry about me. It will be a wonderful life as I’m now reunited with my fur babies at Rainbow Bridge.
As you know, my hero in life was “Garfield” the cat. Every time you see a “Garfield”, you will see me.
People come into our lives when we need them and leave our lives when someone else needs them more.”
Our family is so very grateful to all of the first responders, STARS Air Ambulance flight crew, Dr. Maier and staff of Health Sciences Centre Emergency Dept. for their professional, kind and compassionate care for Elaine during her final moments.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Elaine Kon Fund for Canine Research, University Relations, c/o Bev Cooper, G15 Thorvaldson Building, 110 Science Place, Saskatoon, SK S7N 5C9: Ducks Unlimited Canada, 1 Mallard Way at Hwy 220, P.O.
