Doris Evelyn Orton ( nee Lintaman)
May 02, 1927 – October 07, 2019

Doris Evelyn Orton (nee Lintaman), passed away peacefully Monday October 7, 2019 in Dartmouth with her son Douglas Bruce Wilson, and daughter Karen Jean Dooks, by her side.
Born in Cow Bay, Nova Scotia on May 2, 1927, Doris was the daughter of Clyde William and Ida May Lintaman. She was part of a family of ten along with her siblings Marion Agnes, Margaret Harriet, Anne Muriel, Sadie Marie, Myrtle Helena, Elizabeth Louise, Francis Osborne, James Harris, and Ralph William.
She was predeceased by her husbands Robert Arthur Dooks, Thomas Alan Wilson and William Fenwick Orton.
Doris, affectionately known as ‘Doss’ or ‘Dossie’ to her family and friends, was a self made woman who left home at an early age to travel to the city with barely a dollar to her name where she worked at Benjamin Photo Studio and later K-Mart. Doris always put her children and family first as she raised Karen and Doug and played a significant role in raising her grandchildren Joe and Kate. Most of this time was as a single parent juggling work and raising her children; never losing her sense of humour and strength along the way.
Doris loved to play 45’s, go on Maine road trips with her sisters and league bowling with her sisters and nieces. She was an avid Red Sox fan and had a wonderful trip to Fenway Park in 2004 to watch her Sox. She was known for her chocolate cake, boiled chicken dinners and the best mustard pickles ever made. Doris was a kind soul who had amazing strength as she faced many tough challenges throughout her life; always with a smile on her face. She always put others first and provided every opportunity she could to her children and grandchildren. At the end of the day, Doris was an amazing, kind, strong, selfless loving woman and the best Mother one could wish for.
Her legacy lives on through her children, Douglas Bruce Wilson and Karen Jean Dooks; grandchildren Joseph Allen Robert Dooks (Rebecca Radymski) and Kaitlyn Teal; and her great grandchildren Zosia Dooks and Caleb Dooks and many close nieces, nephews and friends.
Doris requested no service. A small graveside ceremony will be held for immediate family and a reception will follow in the coming weeks. Doris will be with her beloved Robert at Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Doris’ name to St. Andrew’s Anglican Church, 8 Locks Road, Dartmouth Nova Scotia. Online condolences may be viewed or sent to www.dartmouthfuneralhome.ca
