Wilbur Raymond SCHULTZ
April 11, 1939 – September 20, 2019
After a long illness, Wilbur passed away at Keremeos, British Columbia. He was born at home near Scottburgh, Saskatchewan, the seventh of thirteen children born to Henry Schuetz and bertha Heid Schuetz. Most of his youth was spent in rural Lumby.
He was predeceased by both parents plus six siblings; Vivian Smith, Laura Roth, Walter Frederick Schuetz, Marjory Brown, Walter Glenn Schuetz, and Robert Schuetz.
He is survived by six sisters; Irene Bieber, Clara Clarke, Betty Rukavina, Darlene (Paul) Beauchamp, Verna (Ron) Shunter, and Linda (Jim) Melahrinakis; as well as by two daughters; Gwenda Schuetz and Eileen (Darren) Omlid. In addition he is survived by five grandchildren; Braytin Lecuyer, Shayla Lecuyer, Callie Omlid, Morgan Omlid, and Jackson Omlid; plus two great grandchildren; Hunter and Archer, and by numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his wife Muriel Schultz.
During his life, Wilbur lived in many places in BC and also spent a few years in Washington State. As a talented and hard worker he participated in many occupation; rancher’s helper, horse logger, tree faller, sawyer, millwright mill superintendent, short and long distance trucker, and home handyman. He enjoyed hunting and fishing as well as animals, gardening, and cooking.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, October 8, 2019 at Keremeos Community Church at the corner of 6th Street and Veterans Avenue.
Wilbur’s warm hugs will be greatly missed.
