Viljo Ilmari Hanhimäki was loved, is missed and will always be cherished, 76 years, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 14th, 2019 at Health Sciences North. He was born with his twin sister Elisa in Alahärmä, Finland and immigrated to Canada with his family in 1957. He worked in the mining industry from a young age until his retirement. Viljo enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, collecting and spending time with his family who knew once the wood stove was lit, the pea soup was coming. He leaves behind numerous family members, too many to mention. At his and his family’s request, there will be no visitation or service. Arrangements entrusted to the Lougheed, Jackson & Barnard Funeral Home. Special thanks to Dr. J. Bowen and her team at the Northeast Cancer Treatment Centre. If you would like to honour his memory, take a dear friend or relative out for coffee or a bowl of soup and smile. He will be there.
