Isabel Thompson (nee Long) passed away in the early morning of August 29, 2019 in her 95th year. Isabel led a full and happy life following a “glass half full” philosophy which she spread to those around her. She was a war-time bride of Donald Thompson (deceased), Postmaster at the Tara Post Office, Secretary at Elmvale District High School, an active volunteer with the Elmvale Maple Syrup Festival, President of St. John’s U.C.W. in Elmvale and member of the Women’s Institute in Elmvale and an active member at Bayshore Seniors Club at Woodland Beach and co-chair of the Appleby Place Residents’ Association in Burlington. Isabel will be lovingly remembered by her children, Ann (Julian), Linda, Jane (Emery) and Judi. She will also be remembered by her many grandchildren Micaela, Quin and Alasdair; Scott and Joe: Michele and
Kent; Michelle, Sion and Jonathan. Also by her great-grandchildren Cole and Blake, Jacob and Jericho, Brooke, Trevor, Stephanie, and Paul.
We would like to thank the Creekway Village Orchard unit for caring for her in the last three years of Isabel’s life. She loved to laugh with the staff. We would also like to thank the staff at Oakville Seniors Citizens’ Residence for taking good care of her prior to Creekway. She was so loved by the staff that some followed her to Creekway.
There will be a visitation for Isabel on Tuesday, September 3 rd , from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., at Kopriva Taylor Community Funeral Home, 64 Lakeshore Rd W, Oakville, ON. The funeral will be held on Wednesday, September 4 th at 2 pm at St. John’s United Church, 27 Yonge St. South, Elmvale, ON followed by Interment at the Elmvale Presbyterian Cemetery.
