Theresa Jean Caswell (Worth)
Dec 18, 1948-Sept 23, 2019
Theresa Caswell (Worth) of Saint John, NB, daughter of the late Murray Worth and the late Catherine (Cassie) Worth (Williams) and 1 of 13 children, passed away after a brief illness.
Survived by her three children with former husband Robert Caswell: Stacey (Mark), Dale and Natasha and six smart and beautiful granddaughters whom she adored: Allison, Katharine, Natalie, Alliah, Nola, and Lauryn. Pre-deceased by partner Brian Gibson, her sisters Joan, Majorie & Virginia, and brothers Elton, Wesley, and George. Survived by her brothers Lloyd, Lawrence, and Bobby, and sisters Marie, Marilyn, and her sister Shirley who was her best-friend & confidante. With 12 siblings, she leaves behind several nieces and nephews many of whom she treated like her own children before she had her own.
Theresa moved to Halifax and worked for Maritime Tel & Tel before she met a sailor and moved out West to Victoria, BC. She married and started a family and a few months later returned to the East Coast to be close to her family. She gave up her career to stay home and raise her three children. There wasn’t much Theresa didn’t do for her children when they were young. She carted them to baseball fields, Cub Scouts, Brownies, and Girl Guides, beaches, Boutliers’s Point, Moncton and Guysborough to spend time with family. Theresa always made sure that Stacey, Dale, and Natasha knew where she came from and were close to her family. Countless summers and trips to Guysborough to spend time with her mother and siblings that never left God’s Country. Many memories were made on those trips.
Theresa volunteered with the Ladies Auxiliary Branch 133 Enfield Legion for years with a great group of women she cared for dearly. She made friends wherever she was. She enjoyed Bangor shopping trips with old friends, Boisetown with the girls, Christmas Dinners and New Years with close friends when she couldn’t be with her kids and many potlucks with friends and co-workers. It was no secret that Theresa loved to have a good time and could throw a good party back in the day and boy could she play cards and cribbage. She loved to cook, bake and garden and the SUN! Rarely would she miss a chance to sit out in the sun on a hot day.
Theresa worked at New Brunswick Association of Community Living from 1998 until she retired in 2015. In retirement, she and her sister Shirley took turns visiting one another and would play cards into the wee hours and she was able to spend special time with her three children and 6 granddaughters who meant the world to her.
Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date at Fundy Funeral Home, followed by the final trip home where Theresa’s children will take her home, back to Nova Scotia, back to Guysborough, where her heart is, back to the cove.
You are going home mom. We love you, more than words can say. You are missed and you will live on as we continue on this journey you gave us, and thru our memories, our hearts, and our children.
A special thanks to all the nurses and doctors in ICU at the Saint John Regional for everything you did for our mom.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the New Brunswick Association of Community Living or Turner Syndrome Society of Canada.
