Shirley Anne Lamontagne
November 1, 1937 – August 27, 2019
In loving memory of Shirley Lamontagne (nee Stanbrook), who passed away peacefully in her 82nd year with her family by her side at the Ottawa Hospital, Civic Campus. Beloved wife of 59 years to Dennis. Loving mother to her four sons Rob (Diane), Mark (Sue Lister), Don (Deborah Forestell) and Alan (Andrea).
Cherished by her ten grandchildren Christina (David Tremblay), Jeff, Steven (Marjorie Clemenhagen), Alexander, Jacob (Shayla Bélècque), Benjamin, Josh, Kiya, Sarah and Zach. Much-loved great-grandmother to Felix Tremblay. Dear sister to Barb Schmidt (Arnie). She will also be missed by her nieces and nephews, and by her many friends at the Westpark Condominium.
Shirley spent many of her early years working in the banking industry, where she met Dennis. After raising four sons, she attended college and became a registered nursing assistant (RNA). She enjoyed working with the elderly at both Casselholme in North Bay, and St Patrick’s Home in Ottawa.
Shirley was a beautiful person, always full of love for those around her. She often volunteered her time, helping the elderly and less fortunate.
She loved spending time with family and friends, always interested in their lives. Shirley kept active and could often be found going for long walks, exercising in the pool, line dancing or playing cards.
Shirley was a long time member of the Legion, as well as a devoted parishioner of St Maurice Parish for over 20 years.
Special thanks to the staff of the Emergency and ICU units, as well as to the volunteers of the Civic Hospital for their warm, compassionate care.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Maurice Parish, 4 Perry Street, Ottawa on Saturday, September 14th. The Church will open at 9:30am for the service. In lieu of flowers, Memorial donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Kidney Foundation would be appreciated.
