It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we the family of the late Samuel Vincent (Ben) Osmond announces his passing at the Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre Hospital in Port aux Basques, NL on Thursday, September 26th, 2019 at the age of 86 years. Born in Barachois, NL, Ben was the son of the late Frederick and Harriett Osmond (nee Taylor). He was also predeceased by his father and mother-in-law James and Jessie Parsons (nee Hardy); infant sister Bertha; brothers Cecil (Una) Osmond, Reginald Osmond; sisters-in-law Betty Osmond, Mary Osmond, Ada (Harvey) Spencer, Mary (Henry) Ashford, Sheila (Harry) Chaulk, Marjorie Collier, Geraldine Enwood and Elsie Parsons.
He leaves to mourn with many fond and loving memories his loving wife of 64 years Mildred Osmond (nee Parsons); sons Wayne (Marilyn) Osmond of Cape Ray, NL, Dennis (Darlene) Osmond, Christopher (Loretta) Osmond both of Port aux Basques, NL, Jason (Alicia) Osmond of Paradise, NL; daughter Janice (Melvin) Seaward of Cape Ray, NL; grandchildren Terry (Alicia Howell) Osmond, Jennifer (Justin) Pearce, Christina (Stephen Tapp) Osmond, Mackenzie Osmond, Carson Osmond, Penny (Wilfred) Hayman, Melissa Seaward (Clyde Marsden); great-grandchildren Hailey, Cameron, Serinity, Jemma, Destiny, Connor, Mitchell, Ryan; his only godchild Ann Collier-Lawrence; brothers Thomas Osmond, Gerald Osmond both of Labrador, Charlie (Rose) Osmond, Alex (Geraldine) Osmond, Walter (Rachel) Osmond all of Port aux Basques, NL, Chesley (Shirley) Osmond of Margaree, NL; brothers-in-law Cecil (Dorothy) Parsons, Carl Parsons, Roderick Parsons, Gerald Collier, Harvey Enwood; sisters-in-law Alice Osmond and Gloria Parsons plus a large circle of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Visitation will take place on Friday, September 27th.and Saturday, September 28th from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at East Haven Funeral Home Inc. The funeral service will take place on Sunday, September 29th at 2 pm from St. James Anglican Church, Channel-Port aux Basques officiated by Rev. Jane Allen, interment will follow at St. James Anglican Cemetery, Barachois Hill, Trans Canada Highway. Flowers are graciously accepted or donations in memory of Ben can be made to a charity of one’s choice.
