Ruth Ellthina Hopkins Somerville

The death of Ruth Ellthina Somerville occurred on Thursday, September 26, 2019 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Chipman, NB on July 23, 1932 she was the daughter of the late Carl and Beatrice (Murray) Hopkins.
Ruth was employed with Becks and New System for numerous years, she was a talented baker who would never pass up to opportunity to be involved in her community. An active member at Portland United Church, Ruth ways always the first one to do whatever she could for those in need.
She is survived by her loving husband William Somerville, cherished niece Judith (Ron) Nicolle and her sisters Mary Lemon,Faye Scott and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents, Ruth is predeceased by her siblings; Murray Hopkins, Charlie Hopkins, Goldwin Hopkins, Hazel Hopkins, Marina Laskey, Verna Glenn, Myrtle Burpee, Dorothy Chase and Ruby Anderson .
Our family would like to say thank you to staff of 5CN for their care and compassion throughout the last few days.
Visitation will be held on Monday, September 30th at 10am from Portland United Church (50 Newport Crescent) followed by the funeral service at 11AM. Interment will follow at Fernhill Cemetery.
