Obituary of Rosalind “Rose” Kalinowski
Rose passed away peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, August 29, 2019 at the age of 90 years. She was predeceased by her husband Karl Heinz, parents Adolf and Genovefa Patzer, and her brothers Siegfried and Albert Patzer. Rose is survived by her children Eric (Wendy), Ralph (Julie), and Karen (Dave), as well as 11 grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Rose was born on the family farm north of Waldeck, Saskatchewan and went to school in a nearby one-room school. After meeting her future husband, they lived briefly in Swift Current and then moved to Cabri, Saskatchewan where they began raising their three children. After moving to Regina, Rose began working at Sears and remained there until retiring. For many years Rose and Karl enjoyed the weekly dances with friends at the local Legion. After Karl’s passing, Rose took up golf and bowling with the “ladies from Sears”, and continued these activities until osteoporosis caused her to put them aside. Rose was an excellent cook, carrying on her mother’s ability to create incredible meals and desserts. Her family always looked forward to her Sunday suppers. Over her lifetime, Rose enjoyed knitting and crocheting, as is evidenced by the many afghans her children and grandchildren possess.
Funeral Service will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina, SK, on Thursday, September 5, 2019 at 1:30 p.m. Interment in Riverside Memorial Park.
