Obituary for
Ronald Rhodes Totten
Totten, Ronald Rhodes – 94, High-Crest Home, Springhill, formerly of Debert, passed away on Monday, September 23, 2019. Born in Debert, he was the son of the late Piercy and Myrtle (Matthews) Totten. Ronnie was a Second World War Veteran joining the Military in 1943. He went to serve overseas in 1944 and returned on August 19, 1945. Following his return, he worked as an electrician for DND at Camp Debert and later became Deputy Fire Chief on the base as well as drove school bus for many years. In his earlier years, Ronnie enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a member of Debert Legion Branch #106 serving in many offices including President. He was one of the founding members of the Debert Volunteer Fire Brigade.
He is survived by his sons, Bill (Theresa), Debert, Michael (Tammy), Debert; daughter, Sharon (Richard) Greene, Miramichi, N.B.; grandchildren, Erin (Jeff), Amy (Ron), Brian (Jessica), Scott (Rebecca), Sarha Dawn (Ron), Mikey; great grandchildren, Nealah, Tyler, Danni, Aliyah, Ava, Jackson.
Besides his parents, Ronnie was predeceased by his wife, Etta; second wife, Jean; sister, Juanita Thompson.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 28th from 1pm until time of RCL Branch #106 Legion Tribute Service at 2pm immediately followed by Funeral Service all in the Debert Baptist Church, 1273 Plains Rd., Debert with Rev. Dr. Betty Johnson, officiating. Interment to follow in Plains Road Cemetery, Debert. Reception will follow the Burial in the Debert Legion, 1252 Masstown Rd., Debert. If so desired, donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
