O’Leary, Osborne
Patrick – Canso formerly of Queensport, Guys Co., age
86 years. It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of
Osborne P. O’Leary on Wednesday, September 18, 2019 in
Eastern Memorial Hospital, Canso. Born in Queensport, Guysborough Co;
he was a son of the late Alphonse and Gertrude (Richard)
O’Leary.
Osborne was a fisherman for 50 plus years, he was a
lighthouse keeper, trapper, gardener, and woodsman. He loved going to
card plays, playing Wahoo and telling stories. He was happiest when he
was heading into the woods on his 4 wheeler whether he was going to
one of his camps or searching the barrens for bake apples. He always
had a smile on his face.
Surviving are his loving wife of 66 years, Winnifred
“Winnie” (Cluney), Canso Seaside Manor; his children, Wayne
(Pauline); Darlene (Ian); Maxine (Kevin P.); Donna (Josh); Debbie
(Kevin S.) 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; sister, Minnie
(Joe) Doiron; daughter-in-law, Audrey O’Leary; many nieces
and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Robert O’Leary
and seven siblings.
There will be no visitation. Funeral Mass will be held in St.
Vincent de Paul Roman Catholic Church, Queensport on Tuesday,
September 24 at 11 a.m. with Father Jonathan Nnajiofor officiating.
Burial to follow in the parish cemetery. A reception will be held in
the Queensport Fire Hall. Family flowers only please. Donations can be
made in Osborne’s memory to St. Vincent de Paul’s
Cemetery Fund or Canso Seaside Manor.
Thank-you to Canso Seaside Manor, Eastern Memorial Hospital,
Canso; Guysborough Memorial Hospital and St. Martha’s
Hospital, Antigonish. A special thank you to Dr. Bell for the
excellent care that she offered to Osborne.
