Obituary of Om Nagar
Om Nagar passed away peacefully in his home in Toronto on Sep 4, 2019. He was preceded in death by his wife Ratta Nagar. He is survived by his daughter Ameeta Nagar and her husband Prabodh Ratnaparkhi and three beautiful grandsons Anshul, Avi and Ayush, sisters (Rajindiri, Kaushalya and Sudha ) and brother (Vinod), one sister in law (Sheila), brothers in law (Vishnu, Rudhar and Brahm ), several nephews and nieces and a wonderful neighbor Raymond Sanchez. Om was born in a Punjab India to mother Sushila and father Narinder Das. His father was a police inspector and young Om had a interesting childhood in pre and post independence India as his father moved from one small town to another living often in forts that were converted into housing. His adventurous spirit nurtured in the heartlands of Punjab, lead him to immigrate to Toronto in 1965 and Toronto with his beloved Maple leafs was his home ever since.
Om spent much of his time over last 20 years in California with his daughter and her family. In both Toronto and San Jose California, he made friends easily with his warm personality and genuine interest in others. Having lead a glorious life, Om leaves us with a big hole in our hearts and longing in our spirit. With a heavy heart we say goodbye to him today but with a promise to him that we will not forget the lessons he taught us in self-discipline, love for family and community and looking at every day for the joy it will bring.
