Norma Mae Milburn West

Norma Mae (Milburn) West
1927-2019
Norma West, 91, of Kenneth E. Spencer Memorial Home and
formerly of Hopewell Hill died peacefully on September 6th, 2019 with
her loving family by her side.
Norma was born in Mountville, Albert County, NB on November
22, 1927 the daughter of the late Charles and Viola (Downey)
Milburn.
After graduating from Riverside Consolidated School she
went to work at the T. Eaton Company in Moncton. In 1946 she married
James “Jim” West and together raised a family of
five children. Never quite sure who Jim would bring home to visit,
Norma had the unique ability to feed the masses on a moments
notice.
Norma grew up in a family consisting of seven sisters and
three brothers. Her bond with them never wavered and the miles between
them only made their annual visits sweeter. They loved each other
dearly.
She attended Hopewell Hill Baptist Church and was a
Lifetime Member of the Winston Churchill Chapter 19, Order of the
Eastern Star.
Norma, the naturalist, loved keeping watch for birds in her
yard and wildflowers in the fields and forest. Her sightings were then
recorded into her guide books. Norma could often be found on the
marshes of Albert County picking goosetongue greens, mushrooms, or
whatever bounty the marsh had to offer. Books and poetry brought much
peace and enjoyment to Norma. She considered herself blessed to have
the beautiful view from their home in Hopewell Hill overlooking the
majestic sweep of the marshes below.
Norma will be remembered for her gracious attitude, her
great smile, and her kind and generous ways. She was a true role model
for all who knew her.
She will be deeply missed by her daughters, JoAnne West of
Moncton, Charlotte Love (Steven) of Riverview and Shelley Garnhum
(Donald) of Hopewell Cape; sons, William “Bill” West (Mary)
of Lower Coverdale and Donald West (Marcy) of Moncton; her treasured
grandchildren, Matthew, Jenny, Julie, Geoffrey, Michael, Colin, Ryan,
Brenton, Hannah, Sophie and Simon; her precious great grandchildren;
her sisters from Ontario, Beryl Graham, Shirley Perry, Phyllis
Robertson, Thelma Graham (Clayton), Margaret Hart and Marelyn Keefer
(Murray). She will also be missed by her nieces and nephews, Victoria,
and all her extended family and friends.
Besides her parents she was predeceased by her beloved
husband of seventy years, James “Jim” West (2017) ;
brothers, Gurney, Dale, and Russell; sister, Jean
Munson.
She will be resting at the Albert County Funeral Home with
a time of visitation at 1:00 pm before the funeral service at 2:00 pm
on Tuesday, September 10th, 2019 with Pastor Paul Steeves officiating.
Interment will be in the Bayview Cemetery, Harvey, Albert. County,
NB.
Donations to the Bayview Cemetery or Harvest House Atlantic
would be greatly appreciated by the family.
Arrangements are in the care of the Albert County Funeral
