Michael Albert Mattie
1947-2019
Michael Albert Mattie, May 15, 1947, youngest son of the late
Ephriam Thomas Mattie and Lena Catherine (Delorey). Born in Mattie
Settlement, he died on September 1st after a
courageous battle against cancer.
Mike was a member of the Boilermakers Lodge 73 for more then
50 years and Operating Engineers for 30 years. He loved machinery and
operated excavators, dozers, cranes and loaders. He worked for many
years with Mattie Brothers, A & G Crane, Nova Construction and
Allan MacIsaac.
Mike loved listening to music; especially fiddle music or
anything by Merle Haggard, Johnny Cash, Charlie Pride, Tom T Hall and
Stompin’ Tom. He loved old black and white movies,
especially “The Good, the Bad and the Ugly,” gardening (he
had an amazing green thumb), and family gatherings with fiddle tunes.
He really enjoyed eating at his favorite restaurants, going for drives
in areas that he used to work, watching for deer and long naps. We
will always remember his great sense of humor, trips to the camp with
rides on his pontoon boat, his “many” furnaces and his love
of classic cars.
