Mervin Wesley Stieb

Mervin Stieb passed away suddenly on Tuesday, September 3, 2019, in Prince Albert, SK at the age of 71.
He is survived and mourned by his daughters Tammy Stieb and Tina (Brad) Stene; grandchildren Karlina Cadieu, Travis Stene and Brianna Stene; siblings Bruce (Mary) Stieb, Ruthie (Dennis) Prosser, Muriel (Gerald) Lanes, Julie (Bert) Gustafson, and Barbara Klingspohn; many well-loved nieces and nephews; sister-in-law, Kari English (Mark) and their children McKenna and Taylor who were especially close to his heart as well. He was predeceased by his wife Patricia Stieb (nee Bittner); parents Arthur and Annie Stieb; parents-in-law Eric and Mary Bittner; brothers-in-law Ted Klingspohn, Barry Bittner and Bob Bittner.
Mervin (Dad, Papa, Uncle Merv, brother) was born to Arthur and Annie Stieb on October 14, 1947, in Prince Albert, SK> He was the second youngest of six children and grew up in the Brightholme area near Leask, SK.
After we lost Mom in February of 2018, Dad’s heart never fully recovered from the void she left in all our lives. Dad’s final months were not easy, but his determined and humble personality kept him strong and independent. Mom and Dad would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in May of 2018, and so it is comforting to us to know they are together again now.
Dad worked security and for the Commissionaires for the past 15 years in Prince Albert. Although these jobs exposed him to some interesting and difficult challenges, he developed relationships and friendships with coworkers that he always cherished. He would often tell tales of the many adventures he and his colleagues had while working security at the hospital in Prince Albert.
Dad was extremely proud of us (his daughters) and his grandchildren. He had a way of making us all feel special and loved. Years later we discovered that he would secretly tell each of us “you are my favourite, you know” … letting us believe we had the upper hand on the other and enjoying every minute of the trouble he was making.
We will always miss that mischievous grin, Dad’s quick wit, great sense of humour and big loving heart.
We would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Ekpenike, the nursing staff on Level 6 at the Victoria Union Hospital, the Home Care staff in Prince Albert, SK and Gray’s Funeral Chapel.
At his request, a small graveside service will be held at a later date.
Condolences may be sent to the family at www.grays.ca. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Gray’s Funeral Chapel, (306) 922-4729.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Mervin Wesley Stieb..
