Merlyn “Merle” Darrel Chapman
November 17, 1942 – September 24, 2019

CHAPMAN, MERLYN “MERLE” DARREL

It is with great sadness that the family of Merle Chapman announce his passing on Tuesday, September 24, 2019 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Merlyn “Merle” Darrel Chapman was born in 1942 and raised in Newcastle Creek, NB, the youngest of three sibings, Malcolm and Joyce. He was the son of the late Orville and Elsie (McMann) Chapman.

Merle graduated from Minto Memorial High and New Brunswick Community College, from the first offered Electronic Technology course. His working career started with NBTel in 1965, until retirement in 1994. He then embarked on a business career, establishing Triple R Telecom, OptiComm Inc and CJ Warehouse. He worked side by side with his partner and wife from 1994-2002. He passed the torch to his eldest son Stacy, then he and Brenda retired together and built the home of their dreams in Lakeville Corner, affectionately known as “The Farm”. His life centered around his love and service for his Lord, his wife Brenda and his family in that order. He was always a worker and a leader, who would not ask anyone to do what he wouldn’t. The love of his life was certainly his wife Brenda, whom he met in school at the age of 16, and never looked back or sideways for his entire life. He was always active in his local church as handyman, treasurer and whatever the Lord inspired him to do.

Born: November 17, 1942 Death: September 24, 2019

His passions for this life could be summed up in faith, family, hunting, fishing, hobby farming, and of course a love of cars especially his 1973 Porsche, presented to him on his 70th birthday by his family. His grandchildren were always special and each one held a special part in his life. Samantha as a baby would be in her grandfather’s arms at the race track in Shubenacadie. Allison’s talent as a singer thrilled him. Tessa’s country singing and their special outings were inspiring. Alex’s talent at flying and duck hunting were a proud accomplishment. Cassie’s outdoor adventures with him and their special fishing trips meant the world to him. Josh was always there beside him in the Kubota from the time he was a baby to a young man to tall to stand in the cab.

Merle is survived by his loving wife, Brenda; sons, Stacy (Linda) and Brad (Lisa); daughter, Julie Morneault (Paul); brother, Malcolm (Frances); brother in law, Donald Wood; six grandchildren; one great grandson; many relatives and friends. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Joyce

Wood.
