Obituary of Melissa Leigh Anne Calhoun
CALHOUN, Melissa Leigh Anne R.N. – Passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, September 4, 2019 in Peterborough. Melissa of Peterborough, formerly of Toronto, at 36 years of age.
Beloved daughter of Jennifer Kilby and Michael Calhoun. Sister of the late William Calhoun. Grand daughter of Patricia Kilby (late Norman) and William & Helen Calhoun. Loved by her many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends all across Canada. Also remembered by her rescue dog “Lexi”.
A cardiac nurse at Toronto General, and formerly St. Michael’s and Toronto East General. She is the past owner/operator of Vegan Delight, a health food company, and was a well-known Dog “Day Care” provider in Toronto.
Melissa was an adventurous person who had travelled twice across Canada, once by train, one hitch hiking. She had visited Australia, Finland and many places in the USA. Melissa was a natural comedian, able to spontaneously make up funny jokes, stories and songs.
Cremation entrusted to Community Alternative Funeral Home. A family celebration of life will be held at a later date.
