Obituary of Maurice Allen Wight
Deer Lake
October 22, 1946 – September 27, 2019
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Maurice Allen Wight announce his passing on Friday, September 27, 2019 at the Palliative Care Unit surrounded by his loving family, at the age of 72 years. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife of 48 years Loretta (nee Dinney), son Edward (Nicole), special grandson Ryan; brothers: Douglas, Paul (Karen), Seth (Joanne); sisters: Georgina Pittman, Blanche (Max) Chambers, Kay (Herb) Woodward; sisters-in-law: Rowena (Edward) Gaulton, Hughena Wight, Ilene Wight, Frances Shears, Worneta (Gary) Cramm, Joanne (Rick) Janes; brothers-in-law: John (Ruby) Dinney, Gord (Beth) Dinney, Melvin (Phyllis) Dinney, Eric Dinney, Wayne Cooper; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was predeceased by his parents Edward Stewart and Sarah Wight, parents-in-law Kay and Warrick Dinney; brothers: Stephen, Thomas, Lawrence Wight; sisters-in-law: Elaine Cooper, Edna Dinney; brother-in-law John Pittman and very special great-niece Isla Short.
Maurice was an avid outdoorsman, enjoyed camping, hunting and fishing, especially with his loving family.
The family would like to send special thanks to the staff of the WMRH Dialysis Unit and Pallative Care Unit, as well as the Health Science Centre for the special care and kindness shown to Maurice.
Visitation will be held at Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 10 Clinic Dr., Deer Lake on Saturday, September 28th from 7-9pm and Sunday, September 29th from 2-4 pm and 7-9pm. The funeral service will be at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church at 21 Upper Nicholsville Road on Monday, September 30th at 2pm, with Father Gabriel Selvanathan officiating. Interment will take place following the service at the Deer Lake Interdenominational Cemetery on Wight’s Road, Deer Lake.
As expressions of sympathy flowers graciously accepted or donations may be made to Canadian Cancer Society’s Daffodil House.
