MATSOS, Matina (nee Prassas)
Matina passed away peacefully at the Hellenic Home, Scarborough, on Tuesday, September 17, 2019 at the age of 94. Beloved wife of the late Panagioti (Paul) Matsos and predeceased by her first husband, Steve Pappas. Loving step-mother to Zoe Fortuna (Frank) and Gus Matsos (Mena). Cherished yia yia to Matthew Fortuna (Kristan), Mark Matsos (Meg), Laura Rosato (Matthew), Michael Fortuna (Evelina), and great yia yia to Hannah, Amelia, Harper, Samuel, Leah, Jonah, Jordan, Anna and Adam. Dear sister to the late Panagiota Bafe (late Bill), the late James Prassas (Connie), Ellie Saites (late John), Fotoula Plessas (late John), Peter Prassas (Stasa) and Eleftheria Stavropoulos (Bill). Matina will also be missed by many nieces and nephews across Canada, the United States and Greece.
Matina was a longtime active member within the Hamilton Greek community and held a number of executive positions. A special thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff of the Hellenic Home for their compassionate care over the years.
Visitation at Bay Gardens Funeral Home, 1010 Botanical Drive, BURLINGTON on Sunday, September 22, 2019 from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. Prayers to be held at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 22 Head Street, Hamilton on Monday, September 23, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. Burial to follow at Woodland Cemetery, Burlington.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Hellenic Home, Scarborough or to the Alzheimer’s Society would be appreciated.
