Obituary of Madeline Joyce Longmire
Longmire, Madeline “Peggy” (nee Young) –
Passed away peacefully at the age of 73 surrounded by family at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance on September 2nd, 2019.
Daughter of the late Grover and Lillian Smith (nee Young).
Beloved wife of the late Leonard Longmire (2005).
Loving mother to Duncan Jackson and Monica Dunne of Wallaceburg, and AnnMarie McLeod and Daryl of Chatham.
Fondly remembered by sister Lillian Osborne (the late Gordon) and brother Joseph Young (Gloria). Predeceased by siblings Mary Quick (John), Duncan Young, and John Young.
Missed by her grandchildren Chantal Suedat (Johnny) and Shay Jackson, Jocelyn Doskas (Jason), Katie Verbeek (Chris), and Sarah Abrantes (Jason).
She will be missed by many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Best friend and confidant to Rose Willet.
Peggy will be remembered for her spicy, quick wit and her heart of gold. Peggy was everyone’s guardian angel and had an never-ending love for the Lord.
As per Peggy’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A Private Family Interment will take place in Morpeth Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, September 21, 2019 at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 642, 39 William Street North, Chatham from 1:00 – 3:00pm.
Donations made in memory of Peggy may be made to Children’s Treatment Centre of Chatham-Kent, the Ronald McDonald House, or to Pet and Wildlife Rescue.
