Mr. Larry Smyth
Larry Smyth, 67, our Hero and World’s Best Papa, passed peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on Wednesday, September 4th, 2019. A lifelong resident of Chatham, Larry is survived by his high school sweetheart of 46 years, Heather, and his two biggest cheerleaders Perry (Shannan) and Kealey (Darryl). Special grandfather of Clark, Hayley and Tessa. Cherished son of the late Maurice and Margaret Smyth. Dear brother of Gaye and George Janssens and brother-in-law of Greg and Judy McKay. He will be sadly missed by his niece Jill (Matt) and is now in heaven with his nephew Joel. Larry was absolutely adored by his golf and curling friends.
We would be remiss if we did not acknowledge the health care professionals of the ESC LHIN, the Motor Neuron Disease Team at the London Health Science Centre and VON Chatham-Kent, especially RN Denise Martins, Dr. Shoesmith, Dr. Leasa, Dr. Moazzam and caring nurse, Myles.
Through his love and passion for golf, curling and boating as well as his lifelong career as a real estate broker, Larry gained the admiration of all who knew him. His greatest accomplishment was his 3 grandchildren; however, though he was too humble to mention it, he earned a trip to the Brier, scored an 8-ender and sank a hole-in-one.
Although our hearts are heavy, we will celebrate his life and find comfort in knowing that he is in heaven watching over us. Cheers to Smitty!
