Obituary for
Krista Lynn van Berkel (Trites)
After a courageous battle, Krista (Trites) van Berkel is finally at peace. Devoted and loving wife, mother, sister and friend, she passed away peacefully at home the morning of September 16th, 2019, at the age of 60 years. Krista’s creativity and sewing talents led to multiple stunning Halloween costumes for her kids. She loved to sew, knit and crochet for her children and grandchildren; things they will have to remember her by. She loved to bake and supply family gatherings with sweet delights. Reading was her passion and she never read a book she didn’t like.
Krista was born in Nova Scotia but spent the latter part of her life in Ottawa. She headed west to follow her heart after graduating from St. Francis Xavier University. Krista was the Office Manager at Godfrey Roofing for over 25 years. She enjoyed the family atmosphere and was proud to see the company grow throughout the years. Even though she spent almost 35 years in Ottawa, her happy place remained at the east coast cottage surrounded by her family and friends.
Krista will be forever remembered by her husband of 32 years, Paul and her children, Gabrielle (Jeff), Kate (Jake) and Alex (Natasha). Krista will also be fondly remembered by her two grandchildren Peyton and Quinn, by her sister, Denise (Wayne) Canfield and brother Mark (Laura) Trites. Krista will also be forever remembered by her numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends. Krista was predeceased by her parents Robert and Corrine (Webb) Trites.
Please join the family at Hulse, Playfair & McGarry funeral home, 1200 Ogilvie Road, on Saturday, September 21st, 2019. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and from 2:00 p.m.to 4:00 p.m.
