John Douglas Howie
Doug Howie, 83 died peacefully at Timmins and District Hospital on Friday September 20, 2019. He is survived by his dear wife, Donna (Miller) to whom he was married for 60 years. Loving father of Leanne Grant of Dundas and son Lloyd Howie of Erin. Beloved grandfather of Ryan Martin, and wife Julie, Malcolm and Meghan Davidson, and Kaitlyn and Christopher Howie.
Doug’s education included the University of Western Ontario and post graduate work with the University of Waterloo. His teaching career spanned 35 years and he held numerous positions locally and provincially with the Ontario Secondary School Federation.
Doug was an active member of the Alzheimer’s society and he enjoyed fishing, boating, summers at the cottage, winters in Florida, politics, mathematics, and the Toronto Blue Jays and the Maple Leafs when they were winning!

Sincere thanks to the doctors and health care workers at Timmins and District Hospital for their compassion and professionalism. Funeral and cremation services have been entrusted with LESSARD-STEPHENS Funeral Home.
Remembrance donations to the Cancer Research Society, Heart and Stroke Foundation or any other charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated
