Jeanne (à Clétus Maillet) Allain
1928-2019
MONCTON, NB – It is with
broken hearts and profound sadness that the family announces the
passing of Jeanne Allain, 91, of Moncton, on Monday, September 9th,
2019 at the Stella Maris Hospital, Ste-Anne-de-Kent. Born in
St-Edouard-de-Kent, she was the daughter of the late Clétus
Maillet and late Elise (Allain) Maillet. Jeanne loved spending time at
her summer home in St-Edouard surrounded by her loving
family.
Jeanne was lovely known as
“Mame” by her family and extended family. Her door was
always open and all were welcome in her home; where she would quickly
greet you with a heartfelt smile and an invitation to sit and talk to
an always ready to listen ear. There was nothing that she loved more
than spending time with people deep in conversation, where one could
watch her face light up as she wisely announced that the beauty in
life is to spend time with those you love; or as she put it,
‘’having you all around is all that I could ask
for’’.
She was a compassionate volunteer for
most of her life and cared deeply for the well-being of those in need.
She volunteered many places always ready to give a helping hand;
“bingo nights” at Villa du Repos and volunteering in many
capacities at the Maison de Nazareth. Previously, she was known to
collect donated toys for children at Christmas being known as
“Maman Noël”; even earning a spot on the evening
news. For a span of over 30 years, Jeanne collected donations from far
and wide to send directly to a community centre in Haiti. This method
of collection served as a well known wishing well for friends and
family seeking solace from life’s
quarrels.
Jeanne will be sadly missed
by her two daughters, Jocelyne LeBlanc of Moncton, Anne Goguen
(Victor) of Moncton; three sons, Maurice Allain (Joanne) of Shediac,
Robert Allain (Nina) of Moncton, Mario Allain (Wendy) of Dieppe;
twelve grandchildren, Mélanie, Michelle, Lise-Anne, Jules,
Margot, Denys, Jean-Marc, Marissa, Blake, Jasmine, Michelle, Patrick;
nine great grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Rita Maillet of
Saint-Antoine and Marie-Mai Maillet of Dieppe and many nieces and
nephews.
Jeanne was the last surviving member of
her immediate family. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband,
Patrick Allain; six sisters, Marie-Anne, Imelda, Suzanne,
Thérèse, infants, Jeanne & Marguerite;
six brothers, Hector, Eric, Arthur, Ovila, Normand, Antoine and one
grandson, Stéphane.
Visitation will be held at
L’Eglise Ste-Anne in Ste-Anne-de-Kent on Thursday beginning
at 1:00 p.m. until time of the funeral. A Funeral Mass will
be celebrated on Thursday, September 12th, 2019 at 4:00 p.m. at
L’Eglise Ste-Anne, Ste-Anne-de-Kent. Donations in
Jeanne’s memory may be made to the charity of the
donor’s choice. Arrangements are in care of
Thompson’s Funeral Home, Richibucto

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Jeanne à Cletus Maillet Allain..
