James’ Obituary
REEVES, James Murray “Jim” – passed peacefully, holding the loving hand of his wife, Lynda, at the Lillian Fraser Memorial Hospital in Tatamagouche, on Wednesday September 4, 2019. Jim was the middle son of Irma (Langille) and the late Murray Reeves of Wallace NS. He spent his formative years in Riverview NB and New Glasgow NS before moving back to the family homestead in Wallace. Jim worked for several companies including Crane and Emco in their sales department, before eventually becoming the maintenance manager at the Wallace and Area Museum, a job to which he gave his heart and soul. Jim enjoyed watching television on the weekends to relax – westerns on Saturdays and car races and football games on Sundays. He loved cars and his yearly trip to the car show in Moncton was always a highlight. He had a passion for both historical and genealogical research, and helped numerous students with their heritage fair projects over the years. Jim spent much time helping, whether it was rescuing stranded motorists or helping to do repairs on a neighbour’s home or washing dishes at a fund raising supper, Jim could always be depended on to ‘drop and run’ when he was needed. Jim was “wonderful” every time you asked how he was, he wrote delightfully witty texts, he loved to do sudoku and crossword puzzles, and always left fabulous messages on the home ‘white board’. In a life well lived, Jim knew the most important part, the love of his wife Lynda and his daughter Rebecca, as together the three shared a bond that brought them comfort and joy until he breathed his last. Jim is survived by his wife, Lynda (Kraupa), his daughter Rebecca Reeves and her partner Tristan Smith, and his grandson, Wyatt Smith; his mother, Irma Reeves; his brother Paul (Nancy) Reeves; his sister-in-law, Nicole Reeves; numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law in the Kraupa family, and many aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Murray Reeves; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Hans and Dianne Kraupa; and his brother, Jack Reeves. Jim was a member of St. John’s United Church in Wallace, from where a celebration of life will be held on Tuesday September 10, 2019 at 6:00 p.m. with the Reverend Connie McNamara officiating. A potluck reception will follow in the lower level of the church. Please plan to join the family to share in the comfort of food and fellowship. In keeping with Jim’s affinity for jeans and t-shirts, the family request that you consider dressing casual to attend. Memorial donations may be made to assist the family with unexpected expenses, or to a charity of one’s choice. Family flowers only please.
