Isabelle Polvi, if Moosomin, beloved wife of the late Leonard Polvi, passed away at the Southeast Integrated Care Centre, Moosomin on Saturday, September 7, 2019 in her 90th year.
Funeral service from the G.R.Carscadden Funeral chapel, Moosomin, on Monday, September 16, at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. Barbara Wilkins officiating. interment in the Moosomin South Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made to the Moosomin & District Healthcare Foundation, The C.N.I.B. or a charity of your choice, in memory of Isabelle.
Isabelle Ellen Polvi (Calder) was born September 12, 1929, the eldest child of Alexander & Edith Calder, in the Canoustie District. She passed away September 7, 2019 at the Southeast Integrated Care Centre, Moosomin. On August 12, 1950, she married Leonard Polvi of the New Finland District.
Isabelle took her schooling at Carnoustie School and stayed home to help out. She worked at various stores and cafes in Moosomin. She was a life member of the Moosomin Agriculture Society and a 25 year member of the Legion Ladies Auxiliary. She was active at the Drop Inn Center where she enjoyed playing cards and visiting old and new friends. Isabelle enjoyed fishing, sewing and doing crafts, participating in craft sales in the area with Leonard. They also enjoyed traveling in the United States and Canada. In May of 2011, Isabelle and Leonard made the move to Centennial Manor where they enjoyed playing cards, bingo, the monthly suppers and the various entertainment that was brought in.
Isabelle is survived by her daughters Irene (Gordon) Blyth of Whitewood and Debra (Sterling) McLean of Regina; six grandchildren: Shannon (Kris Schofieki), Garrad (Janine), Ellen (Collin Slather), Jaclyn, Kelly (Tim Walsh), Sheena (Andy Martens);`three great grandchildren: Connor & Wyatt Blyth and Lucy Walsh. Brothers and sister George, John and Larry (Pauline) Calder and Muriel Koskela. Sisters-in-law Marion Calder, Viola Johnson, Wilma Polvi, Alice Tomas, Elina Eskelinen and several nieces, nephews, cousin and friends. She was predeceased by her parents Alexander and Edith Calder, husband Leonard, brother Jim, sisters Vera Westberg, Elaine Redekop, Sisters and brothers-in-law Isabelle Calder, Bill Koskela, Wilfred Polvi, Arthur Johnson, Charles Thomas, Richard Westberg, and Pete Redekop.
