Helen “Blanche” Vivian Kathlene Atwell –
age 99, of Forest Hill, Kings County, passed away on Tuesday,
September 17, 2019 in the Evergreen Home for Special Care, Kentville.
Born on Melanson Mountain, Five Roads, she was a daughter of the late
John and Gertrude (Skaling) Jordan. She was the last surviving member
of her family. Blanche retired from Acadia University, food services.
She was a member of the Wolfville Ridge Baptist Church and of the
Silver and Gold Seniors Club. Blanche loved to play cards, solve
crosswords and puzzles. She is survived by daughters, Necia (Bill)
Meisner, Forest Hill; Danette Smith-Benedict (Brian), Centreville;
granddaughter, Kaileigh Smith (Cody Hiltz), Halifax; former
son-in-law, John Smith, Forest Hill, several nieces and nephews. She
was predeceased by husband, Guy; sisters, Cora Vaughan, Hilda
Coldwell, Marion Atwell; brothers, Harry and John. Cremation has taken
place and there will be no visitation, by request. The
funeral service, followed by reception, will be held at 11:00 a.m.
Saturday, September 21, 2019 in the White Family Funeral Home,
Kentville, Reverend Gary Manthorne officiating. Burial will take place
in the Gaspereau Cemetery, Gaspereau. Donations in memory may be made
to Wolfville Ridge Baptist Church, Valley Regional Hospital Foundation
or a charity of your choice. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted
to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services,
Kentville.
