Garth Reid Kenney

Slipped away peacefully on September 1st, 2019 after bravely dealing with declining health. Garth will be sorely missed by his two sons Mark Kenney (Heather) and Chris Kenney (Jo-Ann) and lovingly remembered by grandchildren Darren, Laura, Aidan and Cole. He was predeceased by his wife Lorraine Anne Kenney (June 24th, 2013).
He was born in Toronto, Ontario on December 25th, 1938. Garth enjoyed a successful career in insurance, most notably with Pilot/Aviva in Brockville as the Branch Manager. Upon retirement Garth started his second career as the Director of Business Development at Wilkinson and Company as he would joke, to support his love of travel with Lori and friends.
Africa was the one trip that captured his heart and he became an ambassador to raise funds for computers for a school in Kenya and to support an elephant sanctuary.
The family would like to thank Dr. Gerry Ashe for his friendship and bedside manner during this difficult time. Our thanks also goes out to the tremendous care received from the staff at BGH and Wedgewood Retirement Residence.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at Irvine Memorial Chapel at Roselawn, 2451 County Road 15, Maitland on Saturday, September 7th, 2019 from 10:00 am – 11:30 am. Tributes celebrating Garth’s life will be held at 11:30 am in the chapel followed by a reception.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Lung Association will be gratefully acknowledged
