Freda DeBoer

Passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side on Tuesday September 24, 2019 in Hamilton. Predeceased by her beloved husband Engbert (Ed) De Boer (1990) and her son Engbert (Eddie) De Boer (1969). She is survived by her children; Freerk (Fred/Marilyn) De Boer, Maaike (Mary/Don) Haggart, Hank De Boer, Diana (Barry) Haggart, and Jan (Johnny) De Boer. Forever remembered by her 9 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Mom arrived in Halifax on July 10th, 1952 on the Zuiderkruis (Holland-America Line). She shared and protected her Dutch traditions. Mom was equally proud to be a Canadian citizen after taking the oath of allegiance in June 1972. Mom lived a gracious life exemplified with a steadfast love for her family. Mom’s compassionate personality was ever present as she fought the increasing embrace of dementia. Mom had the gift of hospitality; everyone was welcome and felt special in her home. Mom brought out the best in all of those she served. Our Family wishes to express our sincere appreciation to the wonderful staff at Parkview LTC in Hamilton, for the loving care they have provided through mom’s final journey these last 5 ½ years. We will miss our matriarch.
