Obituary of Eugene Smith
Smith, Eugene Newton of St. Thomas passed away peacefully with his family by his side at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital on Wednesday, September 25, 2019 in his 81st year. Beloved husband of Patricia (Underhill) Smith. Dear father of Kathy Beattie(Rick) of Hanover, Ron Smith(Lynne) of Springfield, Kelly Smith(Danielle) of Springfield and Jamie Smith(Reneta) of Aylmer. Grandfather of Greg(Maria), Stephanie, Darryl, Bobbie-Lynn, Jillian, Joel, Shaun(Amber), Jessica(Jack), Devon(Melissa), Emily(Mick), Courtney(Cam), Taylor, Meagan, Braydan and Morgan. Brother of Pat Smith(Marilyn Turner) of St. Thomas, Nancy Couture(late Frank) of Port Burwell and Carl Smith of Port Burwell. He will be missed by his great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Predeceased by a daughter Deanna Lynn Smith and son Isaac Smith. Born in Bayham Township on October 4, 1938, son of the late Norman Smith and Ethel (Taylor) and John Grass. Eugene was an avid fisherman and hunter. He loved music and enjoyed playing his acoustic guitar. Eugene was the owner and operator of Homes for Special Care in Kitchener and the supervisor at Hayes-Dana in St. Thomas. Friends may call at the H. A. Kebbel Funeral Home, Aylmer on Friday 2-4 and 7-9pm where the funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2019 at 11am. Interment, Straffordville Cemetery.
