Obituary of Elizabeth Kochaniuk
KOCHANIUK, Elizabeth “Betty”
October 2, 1924 – September 13, 2019
Elizabeth “Betty” Kochaniuk was born on October 2, 1924, on a farm near Yorkton, SK., and died peacefully on September 13, 2019, at the William Booth Special Care Home. She was Predeceased by her husband, Tony; brothers, Alec, Dave, Johnny and Gottfried Leis; and sisters, Leah Riffle, Pauline Nairne, Frieda Maisel and Rose Fetzer, she is survived by her daughter, Donna Burks of Regina, SK. Betty lived most of her adult life in Regina, SK. As a homemaker, she kept a spotless house and cooked delicious meals but much preferred the outdoor tasks of shoveling snow and cutting the grass. She loved a good game of shuffleboard and was an ardent Rider fan. Country and Western music was an important part of Betty’s life. She’d sing harmony with all the greats on the radio and for years was a member of a local singing group. But her real passion was dancing. Line dancing with a group of kindred spirits brought her tremendous joy and on Saturday nights she could be seen gliding across the floor of the legion hall in four inch heels to her favorite old time hits. At William Booth she enjoyed sitting on the patio admiring the flowers, playing shuffle bowling and animal visits from the Regina Humane Society. Donations in Betty’s memory may be made to Prairie Animal Assistance Rescue Sanctuary or William Booth Special Care Home.
