Eleanor Minue
1919-2019
It is with sadness that the family of Eleanor Minue announces
her death at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital in Fredericton on
Monday, September 16, 2019. Born in Fredericton, NB, on November 8,
1919, she was the wife of the late Perc Minue. She was the last
remaining member of her immediate family, passing away just one month
shy of her 100th birthday.
Eleanor leaves behind her step daughter, Genevieve MacKinney;
step grandchildren, Luanne and Myles MacKinney; nephew and nieces,
Peter Bailey (Dianne), Heather Bailey, and Karen Kelly (Leonard);
special friends, Bill and Colleen Kennedy. In addition to her husband,
Perc, Eleanor was predeceased by her parents, William and Josephine
(White) Bailey; brother, Balfour Bailey; sister, Constance Beach; half
brothers, Eldred, Douglas, and Frederick Bailey.
Eleanor was a lifetime member of St. Paul’s United Church as
well as a member of the Ladies Auxilliary. She was well known for her
piano playing, which she learned by ear, and was happy to take
requests from the residents at Ste. Anne’s Court as well as playing in
Ste. Anne’s Chapel. Eleanor was often recognized by the public as the
“ticket lady” from the old Gaiety Theatre on Queen
Street.
Visitation will be held at McAdam’s Funeral Home on
Wednesday, September 18, from 4-8 pm. A memorial service will be held
from the J.A. McAdam Memorial Chapel on Thursday, September 19, 2019
at 1:00 pm. Rev. Michelle Armstrong will officiate. For those who
wish, donations in Eleanor’s memory can be made to the Canadian Cancer
Research Society or a charity of the donor’s choice.
