The death of Mrs. Dorothy Olive Irene Mountain wife of the late Guy Mountain of Miramichi Senior Citizens Home and formerly of Newcastle, NB, occurred on Sunday, September 15, 2019 at her residence at the age of 99. Born in Newcastle, NB, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Florence (Robinson) Treadwell. Dorothy was a very active member of the Salvation Army Church as well as the Home League. She was known as the “Avon Lady” and enjoyed crocheting and selling cushion covers. Also she volunteered at Harkins Elementary in Mrs. Wasson’s Kindergarten a job that she enjoyed immensely.
Dorothy is survived by: four daughters: Dianne Holmes (William); Cynthia Kovacs; all of Miramichi, NB; Guydree Kelly of PEI and Doreen Doyle of Miramichi, NB; one adopted daughter: Crystal Savoie (Francis); 14 grandchildren; many great and great great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family, besides her husband and parents, she was predeceased by: three brothers: Reggie, Harry and Allie Treadwell and three grandsons: Kerr-Kerr, Jason and Michael
The family will receive visitors at Bell’s Funeral Home, 651 King George Highway, Miramichi on Thursday, September 19, 2019 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM. The Funeral Service will be held from the Sterling Bell Memorial Chapel on Friday at 11 AM with Rev. Joash Schumpelt and Major Vida Ryan officiating. Burial will follow in the Miramichi Cemetery.
In Dorothy’s memory, donations may be made to the Salvation Army or to a memorial of one’s choice.
