1928-2019
Doris Emily Eaton – age 91, of Canning, passed away on
Sunday, September 29, 2019 at Shannex – Blomidon Court,
Greenwich. Born in Boston, she was a daughter of the late Enos
Eisenhauer and Margaret (Harding) Eisnor. Doris was a world renowned
rug hooker. She was well known for sharing her craft and
helping others develop their own. 40 years ago, she founded the Nova
Scotia Rug Hooking Guild. She is survived by daughters, Patricia Marie
(Earl) Monette, Canning; Mary Louise (Douglas) Vaughan, Molega Lake;
Jo Ann Eaton (Timothy Sawler), Alberta; son, Bradford John, Italy
Cross; son-in-law, Richard Dempsey, Kentville; sisters, Cinda (Robert)
Modée; Jean (Al) Johnson, Janice (Jim) Whitaker; 11
grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; great great-grandson twins;
several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 69
years, Ronald Lloyd Eaton; daughter, Donna Gail Dempsey; grandson,
Kevin Lloyd Hunt and brother, Bernard Eisnor. Cremation has taken
place and there will be no visitation, by request. A public graveside
service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 5, 2019 in the
Hillaton Cemetery, Kings County. Following the burial, a reception
will be held at the Pereaux Baptist Church. No flowers, by request.
Donations in memory may be made to a charity of your choice. Funeral
arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and
Cremation Services, Kentville.
