Diana Sproat

SPROAT, DIANA MAY
“Love You Forever”
It is with extreme sadness that the family of Diana May Sproat announce her passing, after a tremendous 26 month battle against Glioblastoma brain cancer. On September 2, 2019, she was reunited with her son Justin in heaven at the young age of 57. Diana impacted so many with her strength, positive outlook, and generosity. Diana loved travelling, especially to her “happy place” Paradise Village in Puerto Vallarta where she would suntan for hours, run the beaches, play hundreds of games of cribbage, and swim in the ocean. Diana enjoyed spoiling her 2 grandkids and her pup Tucker. Those that know her can attest to her love for shopping, lipstick, and her MANY pairs of shoes. Diana was a social butterfly whom had many great friends in many different circles. She joined any club which promised social outings: Trail Trippers Running Group, Clothing club, Movie club and Book club to name a few. Diana was the ultimate hostess and cook. She could effortlessly whip up a dinner for forty, and nothing brought her more joy then producing hundreds of jars of jam or salsa to share with her friends and family. Diana was never scared of a challenge and headed back to University in 2010 where she earned her Masters of Education in Curriculum Studies. Diana was very passionate about her job as a math consultant for the Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools. Prior to this, she was an elementary teacher for many years, primarily at St. Marguerite Elementary School. Diana travelled the globe to challenge and complete 13 full marathons with her biggest fan Dean always by her side. Her battle against terminal cancer was her final marathon. It proved to be one with the longest route, the most hills, and the greatest test of endurance. She gave it everything she had and obliterated the odds. Her courage inspired us all. Diana, you will be forever missed, and forever remembered by Dean, your loving husband of 36 years, your daughter Chaela; your son-in-law Curtis Barry, your 2 grandkids Aubrie and Carter, your parents Sylvia and Dusan Maljan; your sisters Linda (Tom) and Sherry (Casey; Gage and Jax); your mother-in-law Sylvia Sproat, your brother-in-laws George, Terry, Howard, Brian and their spouses as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles and many friends whom are like family. Diana was predeceased by her son Justin, her nephews Dale Sproat, Michael Sproat and Joshua Moffat, her sister-in-law Isla Thompson, as well as father-in-law George Sproat. Special thank you to Dr. Dueck and Nurse Kathy; Dr. V. Kundapur, Dr. A. Wu, Dr. B. Large, and the medical teams on Units 5B and Palliative Care at St. Paul’s Hospital. The family would like to thank everyone for the love, support and prayers during this difficult time. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to The Brain Tumor Foundation of Canada or The Meewasin Valley Authority. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 7, 2019 at St. Patrick’s Parish (3339 Centennial Drive) in Saskatoon. Arrangements in care of John Schachtel – Mourning Glory Funeral Services (306) 978-5200.
